Who would have thought that one of the most successful brand name fishing online retailers would start on a whim?

Paul Nieuwenhuys did. He first began his enormously successful eCommerce store,, when he decided to package together some of his favourite fishing gear and list it on eBay for less than $10. has, at this point, made more than 200,000 transactions and currently has over 5000 products listed on his eBay store and website. He’s a major online reseller of almost every major brand of fishing gear across Australia. That’s even more impressive when you take into consideration the constantly-evolving product lines from the recreational fishing industry, which vary seasonally and by region.

Now, Paul will be speaking at Retail Global 2017 about creating a successful business with a startup budget. Paul will give tips on how to succeed online with an action plan and how to grow your business quickly at minimum cost whilst learning tips and tricks gained during his own growth. Personalised customer service is also one of Paul’s biggest lessons. Today, customers expect real people to answer their questions, whether it’s via live chat, phone, or email.

Since has taken off, he’s also begun working with other online retailers to improve their online sales. Recently, Paul worked with Ahmed Morsi from   Toy Fiesta. Paul and Ahmed worked together to make a plan to grow Toy Fiesta’s sales, which included how to best present his products on eBay and the website. By implementing click and collect, incorporating free shipping to his sales price, and using Terapeak for competitor research, Paul worked to fine-tune Toy Fiesta’s operations. Ahmed was delighted with the results: an increase in sales by 40%, with three-times year-over-year sales over the Christmas period.
